Canoscan 8800f error as ''cannot connect with scanner''

I have a canoscan 8800f. I haven't been able to install it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now and it comes up cannot connect with scanner. When I click that box another one comes up saying There is a Twain error, maybe device is not connected. Help!

I had the same problem with a new canoscan 8800f. I found by connecting the scanner USB lead to a USB 1 .1 port instead of a USB 2.0 port the problem seems to have been was solved. I was fortunate to have both. Originally it was just USB 1.1 ports on my PC, but I added USB 2.0. I don't know how you solve the problem if you only have 2.0 ports.

You may need to delete the scanner installation and then manually find and remove all references to the scanner from your registry. Then re-install from fresh. I had a similar issue with a canoscan 9900f. Complete erasure and reinstall fixed the problem and has not recurred.

Make sure the scanner usb and power leads are securely seated
the drivers for the scanner might have been corrupted
you might have to uninstall the scanner restart your computer then reinstall your scanner

if your printer/scanner came with an installation disc the drivers could be on it
you might have to uninstall the printer/scanner restart your computer then reinstall the printer/scanner and its drivers

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow Question/exclamation ? ! mark or a red X this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click to update driver
select properties again you will have the similiar options also have option to troubleshoot

CanoScan LiDE 35 Scanner

Select your operating system and download the drivers and then downlaod the software "Canoscan toolbox"...after that, burn it onto a blank CD..here is the link:

Are there any other words along with the error?

Make sure the scanner is unlocked.
Does the scanner make any noise when you attempt to scan?

If possible, try the scanner on another computer.

Was the scanner working before?
What OS are you using?

Download the delete driver application and uninstall the drivers. Also, download the most current drivers and reinstall. You should also download and install the most current version of Toolbox.

Looks like you have a corrupted dll file. Go to install/remove programs and uninstall it then reinstall the program

make sure the scanner is not plugged in until you finish the reinstall and rebooted.

My pc will not recognize my scanner

uninstall again. download updated drivers from website then install the software again. make sure the usb cable is unplugged. install software frist then plug in usb cable make sure it is powered on.
