Hello,
This usually indicates a blown backlight power supply. Heat buildup in the
monitor case causes parts called capacitors to overheat and blow out.
Check out our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm
We have pictures of what the blown capacitors look like. We will have a step by step guide posted by tomorrow night 10/25/09. Open the back
of your monitor and look for the blown caps. Replace all the ones that
look like the ones in the pictures and you should be back up and
running. The values you need to get are going to be marked on the sides
of the ones you take out. Be sure to reinstall the new ones with the
polarity stripe going the same direction as the old ones come out. You
can order replacement parts from several places on the internet or we
can supply them for you. You will need to use high temp caps that will
be marked 105c, these are not available from Radio Shack. If you use
ones that are not rated correctly then you will have more issues in a
month or two. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a
repair service for $35 plus return shipping.
I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.
