Question about Audio Players & Recorders

MP players that play audio (talking) books

Hi, Recently I purchased an IRiver MP3 player and I was disappointed it doesn't play audio (talking) books. I travel 1 1/2 hours by train to work each day and sometimes that 1 1/2 hours becomes 3hours and I would like to purchase a product that provides me with :
Music
radio
Audio (talking) books

could you possibly provide me with some products that fit my requirements?

thanks
Noeline

A sansa clip is excellent and has all the functions
You can even record fm radio as you listen to it
You can also use it like a dictaphone.

Can download wma audio books on e100 but they will not play

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

This player will only recognize Audible audiobook files

There is not a fix for the pause/resume issue - it is a major problem for just about every mp3 player that claims audiobook compatibility

Here are some help files:

Downloading movie length DVD to iriver x20

Yes, you need to convert all your movies to a format iRiver and understand and play.

Here's a link:
Movie Converter for iRiver and instructions

I'm not sure whether Movie Converter supports original DVD files. If that is not the case, then you'll have to convert DVD video into a format that iRiver X20 can use, and then feed that new video to Movie Converter.

However, that would be a bit redundant: to save on time and quality, you could use other video Conversion tools, such as SUPER:

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

After loading your DVD, you set the parameters to mirror those accepted by your iRiver model. In case of iRiver X20, those parameters are:

Extension: AVI [[also known as container]]
Video Codec: WMV9 SP, MPEG-4 SP [[MPEG-4 = XVID, DIVX]]
Video Resolution: max 320 × 240
Video Framerate: max 30 fps
Video Bit Rate: max 512 kbps

After successful conversion, upload your new video file to your iRiver X20 and play it back. If it plays [and plays correctly] - then congratulations - it works! If it does not play, then you might have made a mistake while setting the output parameters in SUPER.

Hope it helps. Rate me. Thanks.

Short Play Time with MP3 Player

Try to re-format it. on player go to settings, then advanced then format. select format, say yes and it should reboot. if that doesn't work you need to upgrade the firmware. got to iriveramerica.com, support, ultra portabale support and download firmware updater software.
