Try remove everything that attached on your laptop, Flash Disk, Floppy Disk, CD-ROM, or anything, just the laptop only without anything.

If still won't operate, it's the operating system crashed, try reinstall it with new ones, and you must format the Hard Drive during installations

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is not loading because its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

My Toshiba Satellite Notebook is only showing a blue screen with the cursor in upper left hand corner blinking.

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

You need your Vista disk to re-install Vista.

If you don't want to go to the expense, download and install Ubuntu, its a free opterating system and now on version 10.4, its pretty good.

When I hit the power button, hard drive starts to spin and then a cursor blinks in top left corner of screen. No other buttons or anything works.

screen is black and says a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+Del to restart

Hello, my A305D-S6835 satellite notebook will not load any programs and will not allow me to hardboot in safemode or access ANY programing, just goes into a blank screen with a strange wymbol and blinking...

If there is nothing super necessary to keep on the harddrive then I would try to repair or reinstall windows on the computer.

So.. you can select safe mode? Or you turn it on and it is resuming into the blank screen?

If the latter. Unplug the power, pull the battery out for 20 seconds or so. Then put it all back together and try booting up.
