There actually isnt a way to clean the receiver. It is inside the xbox. Being dirty isnt the problem.

Do you have a cord to hook them into the console and see if they will connect that way?

Did they just recently stop working?

I can't get my remotes to sync with the console.

Connecting a controller to the Xbox 360 is one of those things that should be simple but always ends up confusing and difficult.

Wired is simple; just plug in the controller into a USB slot on the console. It should connect automatically.

For a wireless controller you do the following:
1. Turn on the Xbox 360.
2. Press center Xbox button on 360 controller.
3. Press the small "sync" button on the console.
4. Press the small "sync" button on the controller quickly after step 3.
Of course I never remember the order, so randomly mashing the Xbox button and sync buttons eventually works too. Here's a link to how to sync, but with pictures!

If you're using the Xbox 360 Universal Media remote, I believe it uses an IR (infrared) connection so there is no syncing involved. To use it you just need to point it at the Xbox 360 console (specifically, it's IR receiver). Just make sure the batteries in the remote aren't dead and that the remote is in 360 mode (as opposed to TV mode; just press the "TV" button to toggle modes).

How to sync your Xbox 360 wireless controller

I have come across a few questions asking why a wireless controller is on but not connected, or why it is on and no corresponding green lights were on, etc.. So here it is: DRAGONF1R3 REPAIRS' GUIDE TO SYNC YOUR XBOX 360 CONTROLLER TO IT'S CONSOLE

Quite a title I know, but the actual guide is very simple.

Step 1: Power on your Xbox 360 console. In this guide I'm assuming everyone already has their console hooked up, if not, contact me.

Step 2: Power on Xbox 360 Controller. Make sure it has a battery pack that has correctly place and working batteries or charged re-chargeable battery pack.

Step 3: Locate the small circular sync button on your controller. It is near where your controller can be plugged in (between the LB and RB).

Step 4: Locate the small circular sync button on your Xbox 360 console. It is next to Memory Unit slot 2.

Step 5: Press and hold the controller sync button until the green power lights start spinning.

Step 6: While your controller lights are still spinning press and hold the console sync button. The console's lights should spin also, then flash, and finally show the player slot light on both the console and the controller.

Viola! You've synced your wireless controller! You can sync up to four controllers.
Also, you can use this guide to sync to different Xbox 360 consoles. So you can bring only your controller to your friend's house.

Note: If you sync your controller to another console, you will have to re-sync it to your own afterwords.

MY CONTROLLER WONT CNNCT TO MY XBOX EVEN WEN I SYNC IT . ITS BRAND NEW.

You might have to replace the batteries in the controller, as if the battery life is low the controller will have issues syncing to the xbox 360. Just in cause, To sync the controller to the xbox 360, you must turn on the controller using the xbox guide button and then press the Wireless Sync button right next to the Controller Charging Port. Then you must press the sync button on the xbox 360. You must do this semi-quickly, or the sync process will not complete.
Lastly, You also might have a faulty controller, I suggest you go back to the store you got it from and see if they will replace the faulty controller.

My Xbox 360 wont sync any of my wireless controllers and the powe

if your wireless controllers wont sync to your xbox, it could be one of 2 things.

assuming your batteries are fully charged, and that you're using a certified xbox controller, it could be that the controller itself. it is really rare that the wireless receiver inside the xbox itself, goes out, but soemtimes, it happens.

the easiest thing or you to do would be to either pick up an after market controller, or another certified controller, and see if they'll work. if you try other controllers, and they STILL dont work, verify that your system settings are correct, or are set to default, and make sure that your xbox isnt sitting close to something that could be interfering with the signal....like a wireless router for example

if this doesnt work, then it's a problem with the xbox, and you should send it back to the service repair center.

My xbox360 controller acts like its attempting to sync and then does nothing but blink on both ends I just hooked it back up for the first time in a year or so..When i attempted to sync the controller the...

I had a similar issue with the XBOX 360 Wireless controller. It blinked slow when it was turned on and when synced, the XBOX got the signal, the controller got the signal, but after the full flashes of both, the console ring stayed dark and the controller kept on blinking.

I managed to get it connected by powering the console on using the "XBOX" button on the controller and then pressed the connect button just as the console was opening up the user interface, apparently the console is looking for controllers when it's just getting up and running and syncs better at that point.

Hope this helped!

Xbox 360 wireless controller not connecting.

it sounds like your controller keeps losing sync with the 360.

- turn them both off
- turn on the 360 with the power button on the console
- wait for it to start up, then press the sync button next to the usb flap on front.
- then press the sync button on the controller (by the recharge connection slot)

That should reset it.
