Something is causing the drum to be way out of balance. Does it bang and make noise when it's spinning empty? Probably not. Is something stuck on the side (inside of course) of the drum, causing it to shake when spinning? If not, a spring or shock absorber (connecting drum to sides, bottom or top of machine) has broken or come loose.
Your drum is in a sense sitting on a barring , it sounds like your barring is going out. Works with no weight, and if helping as you said. Normally means barring is worn out and can not handle any weight.
Probably not getting upto full spin speed, drum may wobble more than usual?
Change the motor drive belt below the machine, tilt the machine 45 degree backwards to access underneath, belt pulls off and replace same way.
Try and help it to spin in the spin mode.. if it moves.. sounds like a clutch problem ..IF NOT... you may have something like nail, screw ect... binding the spin tub from moving.. get a flash lite do some close checking inside the spin tub
