Cassette 1 Lifter error
Unable to detect the lift-up completion position within 4.5 sec after lift-up was started
Error in Lift Motor or Lifter Sensor 1. While Cassette 1 is removed, turn ON the power and then insert Cassette 1. When there is operation sound of the motor 1-1. Check the harness/connector between the DC Controller (UN09/J13) and the Cassette 1 Lifter Sensor (PS12) 2-1. Check if the Cassette 1 Lifter Sensor (PS12) is installed. 3-1. Extend the Sensor Flag of the Cassette 1 Lifter Sensor (PS12) by approx. 1.5 mm with Plastic Film, etc. 4-1. Check the condition of the gear at the host machine side (to see if there is missing or swing with the gear) 5-1. Replace the Cassette 1 Lifter Sensor (PS12) 6-1. Replace the DC Controller PCB (UN09) When there is no operation sound of the motor 1-2. Check the harness/connector between the DC Controller (UN09/J13) and the Cassette 1 Lifter Motor (M14) 2-2. If the paper does not lift, remove tray 2 and look inside to your right and you will see the paper lifter. Make sure the spring has not fallen off the lifter. You may need to replace the lifter. Also try lifting the paper deck by hand to make sure there is no obstructions in the tray itself.
The tray lifting error is displayed as 60.02 Tray 2 lifting error. To fix this error, check the surface sensor of the paper tray2 in the Manual Sensor Test 2 menu under the Troubleshooting menu.
Connect back the cassette lifter motor and the DC controller PCA's connectors and now, replace the filter driver unit in your printer. 123 hp com Quick HP Printers Setup Easy Installation Guidelines

The tray 2 lifter-motor is not functioning. 1 Turn the printer off and then on.
2 If the error persists, turn the printer off.
3 Verify that the tray 2 lifter wire-harness
is full seated in its connector on the
dc controller PCA (location J93).
4 Replace the tray 2 lifter-driver
assembly. See Tray 2 lifter-drive
5 Replace the dc controller PCA. See
Dc controller PCA.
This is straight out of the manual.
Tray 2 lifter-drive assembly
1 Remove the following assemblies:
● Rear accessory cover. See Accessory covers and the tray 2 extension door.
● Top cover. See Top cover.
● Right-side cover. See Right-side cover.
● Formatter cover. See Formatter cover
● Formatter. See Formatter assembly
● Paper-pickup drive assembly. See Paper-pickup drive assembly.
2 Unplug the tray 2 lifter-drive assembly connector from the dc controller PCA (location J93) and
the two flat cables (callout 1, locations J80, J81). Unweave the wire-harness from the cable
guide (callout 2).
NOTE You might have to remove additional wire-harnesses from the cable guide to gain
access to the lifter-drive assembly wire-harness.

unfortunately i couldn't paste the pictures to help you.
Assembly is the exact reverse of removal, Good Luck!
Have you would try a different paper cassette.
Usually that clunking noise is associated with gears not mashing.
Is the lifter lifting the platform or not?
There might be something above the paper tray, maybe even the paper input assembly preventing the paper platform from reaching the top.
Check these and let me know what happens.
