I don't know what type of sander you are speaking about it just says generic ALL PORTER CABLE SANDERS. You got to be a little more specific. If it is a disk sander use 3M disk adhesive. It is a contact cement. spread some on the rubber backing disk with your hand, let dry then apply the sanding disk. After the disk is clogged, peel it off and apply another disk. when the adhesive won't hold anymore disks, re-apply the adhesive.

Looking for the manual,my paper slip off as soon as I start to sand the wood

There are a couple of different types of paper you can use with a sander. One with a sticky back and one that works is like velcro . Sounds like you are using the wrong kind of paper for your machine

How to sand wood to prepare for applying finish

When I was growing up my dad used to build all kinds of things out of wood. My job was to sand down all the pieces before he applied the finish. Since I have grown up I have been perfecting my sanding technique.

To start you have to make sure that you prepare the wood. If there are nails make sure to hammer them into the surface properly and remove any staples as they might catch the sandpaper and rip it.

Depending on how rough the surface you are going to be sanding you will be using different gradient of paper. A higher grit paper works well to make the surface smooth to the touch while a lower grit will help to get rougher surfaces down to a point when you can use a higher grit paper to do a final smoothing.

My dad used to make me wear a mask, goggles and gloves whenever I would sand, but I've learned that he was a little over protective. When you are sanding you should wear a mask and glasses to keep small pieces of sanding dust from getting in your lungs and eyes. While you don't have to wear gloves when your sanding but if you are using a sanding block and your hand slips you could skin your hand, its always better safe than sorry.

What I have noticed from teaching my kids how to sand wood is that after they have been sanding for a while they will come to me and say that the paper has stopped working and they need new paper. This is not entirely true, when you use sandpaper the dust that comes off the wood tends to clog the paper. Thankfully this is easably fixed, all you have to do is tap the paper and the dust should just fall right off.

When the wood is smooth to the touch you are finished sanding. I like to use a soft dry rag to just wipe the dust from the surface. This is an important step if you are going to apply a finish to the wood because if there is dust then the finish will make little bumps where there is dust.

Building things with your kids can be a really great bonding experience. And teaches your kids the basics of fixing simple things like a loose nail.

Belt sander runs until I put pressure on it

It sounds like the sand paper itself is slipping. There should be an adjustment to tighten the pressure on the sand paper itself.

I have a 3x21 inch craftsman belt sander. It's about 12 years old. With the sand paper belt is mounted and tightened and I start to sand something the belt will slip and not sand. I checked the tightening...

The drive and guide rollers are probably drying out and won't grab the paper. Take the drive roller of and treat it with a rubber restoring compund. The roller should not come off easily.

Porter Cable 362 belt sander - the paper slips off

there might be a buildup of sawdust in the tensioning mechanism or the yoke might be bent. I would look at excess buildup in the mechanism first. there are 3 screws on the outside of the tool so you can remove the assembly as a whole. try and clean as thoroughly as possible. the mechanism should move freely and "snap" when lever released.

Power steering stops when I turn on the air conditioning

YES. or the belt may be slipping. does the a/c work? if the belt is tight and the a/c does not work, then the a/c compressor is trying to sieze and will need replacement. if you dont need the a/c disconnect the wires to it.

I have a 12" double bevel compound mitre saw, DW716. It appears it is not running at the full rpm's and bright blue sparks are coming out of the motor. I replaced both brushes and it's still doing the same...

The commutator is dirty. Take a light grade sand paper and slip it in the opening and turn the motor by hand while you clean the comm with the paper. Fold the sand paper or put it on a stick so you can make contact to clean the comm.
