Connection of Canon Powershot SX110 IS to computer

Suddenly I cannot get my Canon Powershot SX110 IS to connect to the computer. Normally when I plug in the interface cable and turn on the camera (regardless of whether with playback or ON button), the LCD screen blinks "busy" as the camera connects to the computer and the Zoom Browser automatically opens. Now, quite unexpectedly, all I see on the screen is a still of the last photo taken (or viewed), and cannot operate the camera as long as the cable is in. I have tried using a different cable and a different USB port on the computer. It makes no difference! Any ideas what I am doing wrong all of a sudden?

Blame Microsoft updates. Try using a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

sounds like a LCD fault could be just a ribbon cable connection. If double checking your batteries are good and removing the mem card has no effect then it may have to go for professional service.

When I plug my Canon SX110 IS into my macbook pro, nothing happens. How am I supposed to upload pictures?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

I have lost my manual for my Canon Powershot SX110 IS. Until I replace the manual, can you tell me how to delete pictures from the camera after I have uploaded them? Thank you!

Sure. The fast way is to format the memory card. As soon as you are SURE all your pics are downloaded, disconnect the camera and do a format. Fast and painless. Its good to format a camera occasionally anyway. No error checking. Even Locked photos are erased!!
