Startup problem My Acer Aspire T180 freezes on the acer logo screen. How to use the restore disks to reinstall or repair the os system?. Do you have to reformat the drive then place the discs in drive to install on clean drive?. I don,t want to lose all my drivers etc.

    My Acer Aspire T180 freezes up on the Acer boot screen. I cannot even open up the bios or do anything. I know it is not the OS.

    I have the same problem too. It restarted after a Windows update then when it came back on all the appeared was the logo. it seemed to take longer loading so i left it for a bit. half an hour later it was still there. it presents you with the options for setup or boot menu but you can't access them. it just gets locked up. can someone help please because i have some important things on it.

I suggest you do this: When the Acer screen pops up, hold Alt and tap F10, doing this will restore your computer to factory settings.

My Acer Aspire T180 freezes on the acer logo screen. it will not let me do any thing with it i have tried unplugging eveything but no change at all, i also have no discs with this computer as they have been lost any suggestions please

I got mine to work again. I just unplugged everything except the monitor and a PS2 keyboard and mouse. Then it came right back on. Then I plugged in everything else.

I had same problem. Found out it was something to do with my HP photosmart printer. Disconnected the printer and computer booted up straight away with no problem. Hope this helps.

When you attempt to restore h drive yo will lose averting on your drive the cds will put all drivers back but personal info you will loose all you have to do is put your cd in the drive turn machine off then restart your pc cd will pick up by itself just follow the easy directions when asked to d o something then your pc will be restored to new again let me know if you have any other question k

Hi, You must have CD installation to reinstall the OS. Turn on your laptop, connect external CD/DVD ROM to USB. Insert the OS CD then follow the steps on your screen to complete the process. You will prompted to repair the OS during process , follow the instructions to repair OS.

Yes, when you use the actual discs that came with the computer you computer will be restored to normal. These Operating systems are called BIOS locked CDs, if they detect the right brand BIOS / motherboard they will install the OEM edition of the OS, hence you need not activate it or it will get activated properly.

While trying to fix a friend's acer aspire one, i ran a defrag check. after rebooting once the check was complete, the computer will not boot up and sits on a black screen. all F8 screen options freeze...
The windows has to be reinstalled ( Formatting the Hard Disk with DATA LOSS ) Select models have the ability to have the operating system reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer.
To start the system recovery:
  1. Restart the netbook.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
  5. Select ' completely restore to factory defaults
If this is not working, then get the Factory Recovery CD's to reinstall windows.

Freeze at acer logo screen
This is a long shot but it happened to me.One of my usb ports was damaged by forcing the plug in backward which bent the contacts shorting them out.I seperated them with a toothpick which booted the computer.

WILL not resetting to factory settings
You will need to burn a Recovery CD / DVD set from the icon located on the desktop/ In your Acer Home Start utility (The window loading at startup) or from the Start Menu.

Using this disk you will be able to do a System Restore back to original factory setup.

pop em in the cd/dvd drive and reboot
it should auto start

How do you reset Acer Aspire T180-GB7Z PC
Perform a system recovery:
Does not come with recovery cd's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or
recover.
3 ways:

1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or click on Burn disks instead of restore
3. if unable to ge into Windows then Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen on startup
