How do I change over from blower to vacum

Open the bottom vent where the air comes in...there should be a locking clip there that when depressed with a screw driver will allow it to open...Install the vacuum tube in the opening made by opening the vented bottom...then remove the plastic blower tube and install a collection bag on the outlet where the tube was.

My BD, DV4000 has lost power and the motor appears

I have this unit. Mine stopped working today after being warm on the handle the last few uses. I opened the unit up (torx 15) and smelled, then found that a fused wire coming off the motor had burned/melted/separated at a plastic plug right inside the handle. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with it, but in this same compartment of the handle there was an anti-theft strip floating around. I called BandD and they said the BV4000 type ONE has been recalled. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07005.html

There are only a few parts to check on this unit. After you have done that,
throw it away and buy you another unit. The cost of parts and labor exceed having the unit fixed.

How do i switch to vacuum...i lost my manual

turn your blower upside down, there should be a slot with a metal thing in it. Stick a Flat head screwdriver in the slot, and push forward or back on the screwdriver, that should open the door on the bottom. Attach your bigger tubes to the bottom of the unit, and the bag on the plower part, and there's your vacuum.

My black and decker leafhog blower/vac smells like something is burning

Black and Decker has issued a recall notice for Type 1 BV4000 because "a loose connection between the unit and an extension cord can create heat, posing a possible fire hazard" Says to STOP USING and call 1-866-853-2138 to arrange for free repair.
