Hi,
The water level will never go above the lower part of the door bowl. Can you be a little more specific on your question?

I have an Indesit WM12X. It seems to work sometimes and not other. So I set the program to 4 and its starts. It gets to the point where that water enters the drum then it seems to stutter and the dial just keeps on going round and round and the cycle does not progress. I switch it off and leave it for a while then switch back on. Sometimes the cycle restarts and completes and sometimes i have to repeat the process over and over until it works.

Make sure your water taps are on full, the hoses aren't kinked or bent and if there are any small filter screens to the machine water inlets that they are not blocked with debris. The H20 error is indicating the machines' water level is being interfered with somehow.

all models have a water level sensor in them that you set according to the wash load you have
when you turn them on the water flows until the level set switches off the inlet tap and proceeds to wash
regardless of the water pressures and delivery, the wash will not proceed until the water level setting is reached
the problem that you face is that during the rinse cycle , there may not be enough water available to rinse within the rinse/ spin cycle

Indesit WIXL85 water level
On a normal wash cycle, you will see very little if any water sloshing around, this is quite normal on todays washers.
You shuold see a lot more on the rinse cycle, as it is a higher fill.
It is usual to more less fill the compartment with powder, unless you are only washing a few items, then half fill it.

First thing if this unit has an electric lock you probably open the door at the wrong time and threw it out of sync. First try to do another load from the beginning cycle and let it finish. If this don't work unplug your machine and then try. I hope this helps you.

Yes, they are easy enough to replace, but you need to test them with a multimeter to see if they are faulty..
