Ls it worth replacing lcd lamp every year or should l buy a new TV ? It's a 50 in Hitachi LCD Rear Projection TV
We have blue along the left side and corners also on the right side asplotch of light yellow approx 10''long. Any advice ????? Tryed resets from manual none worked
Depends on whether you use the TV as your "daily driver" or not. Colour patches on the edges of the screen sounds a bit like a purity problem. If replacing the lamp every year is proving too expensive, not to mention a tad repetitive since it indicates the short life of the lamp(s), plus the set happens to be a few years old, perhaps consider a new TV of approximately the same screen size (50" and up) - if the latter is what you want to do.

Just curious... since the Hitachi 50UX57B projection TV does not have any lamps in it, exactly which "lamp" did you replace? Did you actually replace the entire blue CRT itself?

It is most likely a fan (there are 2 to 3 of them in the set) that is making the noise. I doubt seriously that the lamp is causing a buzzing noise. The only other buzzing sound can come from the ballast wich powers the lamp.

Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.

Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...

I believe I may have solved this problem by putting a small fan blowing on the intake of the Lamp fan. I put the fan in place and the TV has not turned off randomly since. That was only a day ago so I'll see if it is a permanent fix. If so I will probably try to mount the fan on the back of the TV out of sight.
