Cant get out thru the gateway to the internet. it keeps asking for a password to get out to the internet. we have already set up the SSID and can connect to the router but have no intenet access

Generally, SSID is a name of your network, through which you will be able to access the Internet.

Perform the following Steps

1. Go to start
2. Type CMD in search box and select run as administrator.
   
3. A black window will open and on that type, IPCONFIG, and hit enter
   
4. Overthere you will get Default Gateway.
5. Note that Default Gateway and close that window.
6. Open Internet Explorer and in the address bar, type that default gateway and hit enter.
7. It will ask for username and password. In user name, try admin and in password, type password.
8. Once, it accepts the username and password, go to wireless setting tab and overthere you will find your SSID

If you want to connect your wii to the internet there are 2 ways, Wired and Wirelessly. If you want to connect wirelessly I've listed the steps on how to do it including on how to obtain the information on your router. Keep in mind that you need a working computer which is connected to the router.
