Cellular service providers make no provision for caller name display at all. So the only way to
get name is to put those numbers in the phone's address book. The
phones themselves aren't even designed for it and would require
replacement if they ever do add this to the cellular network.
However, there is a company that will provide you with the name and phone number (even if it is a private number) for a fee. http://www.trapcall.com/
Thanks for using FixYa. I think you have stored more than 100 Caller ID messages and hence the caller ID is not showing on Uniden Tru8888.In the following cases the caller ID will not be shown-
If you answer a call before the Caller ID message is received (for example, before the second ring), the Caller ID message will not appear.
When the call is received via a telephone company that does not offer Caller ID service, the caller’s phone number and name does not appear. (This includes some international calls.)
When the call is via a private branch exchange (PBX), the caller's phone number and name may not appear.
You may receive any one of the following messages:
When a private name is received; Private Name
When a private number is received; Private Number
When a unknown name is received; Unknown Name
When a unknown number is received; Unknown Number
When invalid data is received; Incomplete Data
The Caller ID list stores information for incoming calls - even unanswered calls. You can store up to 100 Caller ID messages and phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) for each handset and the base. You can view the Caller ID list through the handset or base during a call or when the phone is in standby mode.
Memory locations for Caller ID messages and Phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) are common, you can store up to all 100 entries for each handset and the base. Caller ID messages are not stored when you have 100 phonebook entries. When you have stored a total of 100 phonebook entries and Caller ID messages, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.

The caller is using private number. If you wanna know who's calling you, turn off your phone. If the caller always call you all the time, you'll be lucky. Because there will voice message received from the operator and you are able to know the number who's calling you.
You can do that also by typing "#31#(destination no.)" then call.
If you answer the call, the number (or number and name) stays on the display until either you or the caller hangs up.
If
you do not answer the call, most display units keep a record of the
calls received, including the phone number (or number and name), date,
and time.
If the letter P, priv, private, or a similar term appears, the caller may have blocked the display of his or her number.
If the letter O, ????, out of area,
or a similar message appears, the caller either is in an area that does
not support Caller ID or has placed the call using operator assistance.
Caller
ID comes with Anonymous Call Rejection, which, when active, allows you
to reject calls from callers who block their number. Your phone does
not ring, and the caller hears a message saying blocked calls will not
go through.
To turn on Anonymous Call Rejection, press
*77 on a touch-tone phone (or dial 1177 on a rotary phone)
To turn off this service, press

I had the same problem. I sent it back to Motorola for warranty. They fixed it and said it was a connection issue. The connection between the screen and the keys came unplugged. This is a regular problem they have with this phone. The phone is poor quality!!!!
Set up the callers in your contacts. You must have the area code for the name to show up. You must dial the area code for the name to show up when dialing out.
The hearing problem could be the person you are talking to, if your volume is all the way up. If you are sure that it is you I would talk to a motorola technician. Let me know how it goes.
