When I turn the drum it sounds like it is rubbing on something between 11&1 oclock on turning cycle indesit w123s

In my many years repairing Miele machines - the most common problem for what you are describing is the underwire from a bra has got in between the inner and outer drum. It's tricky to get out and can be done if you are good with tools and a little technical - but it does involve opening up the machine, removing one of the heating ellements and searching / fishing it out. Another less common reason for this rubbing noise could be the metal heater element bracket that also sits between the inner & outer drum, has bent - but this is normally caused by a bra underwire. Could be motor brushes or motor

100% if its rubbing instead of freely rotating while you manually spin the drum your bearings have gone,You can't see it's all inclosed in a plastic shell & it is pretty much a complete rebuild pain in the neck job that you are going to recieve quote's of $500 buck's or more to do the job might be worth getting a new machine it would be more economical.GOOD LUCK

I advise you to remove the motor, and check the brushes in the motor, and check for loose or broken wires at trhe same time.
If brushes o/k, then it is probably going to be something more serious.
This being the case, then it could faulty programmer or similar.

it is rubbing on spin cycle due to being out of balance.Rubbing wont occur when turning by hand.
Stop by your local hardware store for a packet of drum balancers.

check thermistor and module connections at rear of machine

Hi, Try these out:

1. Balance the load
   
2. Level the machine
   
3. Inspect the water pump for a blockage
   
4. Inspect the coupling
   
5. Inspect the transmission
   
6. Adjust the drive belt tension
   
7. Check the motor bearings
   
8. Check the drum brakes

When all else fails - unplug the machine/turn off breaker.

check your pump it may not be working

There is a bearing at the back of the machine that normally goes.don't just replace the bearing.buy a complete bearing kit and replace that.
