Picture disappeared...have sound

My first go-to place would be any connectors you removed when you did the repairs -- as since this happened after a period of successfull run-time, HEAT may have caused them to expand to the point where a minimally-connected contact is failing. (And I admire your tenacity on taking on a job like that in the first place!)

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

check for bad component parts at the t-con board.

Check the flat cables go to panel and T'Con board for proper seating. Reseat the by unplug it and reinsert it into its respective sockets. If this do not help you, make sure that the T'Con board is faulty, and should be replaced.

Check and replace its tuner.

Mostly will be Metric M5 or M6, you should be able o get them from hardware store for about 25 cents.

If the vcr/dvd player is plugged in to your TV using composite or component cables (Google images them for a view) then you would select an "INPUT" not a channel. Old TV-VCR tv hookups required a channel select of usually channel 3 or 4 but newer equipment uses an INPUT selection usually found on the remote. Look at the back of the tv where you plugged in the dvd and it should be labeled what input it will be.

SOUNDS LIKE THE POWER TRANSFORMER IS SHOT,OR ITS IN THERMAL FAIL-SAFE MODE. IF ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY MAKE THEM TAKE IT BACK!

sounds like noise from a bad cable. I would replace the cable going from the wall to the tv.

If you go to sams club on line you cna locate what sams club has this tv in stock but hurry they are going fast and there model number is LD370SC8. I am not sure where you are located but please start your search now and if you do not have a sams culb card you can get the lowest priced membership possible and due to the low cost the price of a membership is worth it.
