Samsung E250 Have had a Samsung E250 as a Christmas present. All the sound settings work fine except for the timer countdown. When time is up there is a very faint tune which can only just be heard when holding the phone to my ear. Is this the norm; am I doing something wrong; or is it a faulty unit?

My Leviton 6260M is wired to a bath fan according to the diagram provided: Green wire connected to ground, White neutrals connected together, Black wire connected to 'line' feed wire, Blue wire connected...

Countdown timers are made to work with bath fans.
Leviton countdown timers are stout product with 1HP rating.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Countdown-timer-horsepower-ratings.html#6200

It sounds like timer is bad.
Wiring sounds good. Make sure you don't have Load and Line wires reversed. Try reversing Load-Line wires and see what happens.
Another thing that affects electronic timers is line noise/interference. If replacement timer does same thing, then noise is suspect. Try timer on another circuit without fan. Try another brand timer. Update to newer LTB60 Leviton timer. Use cheap circuit tester from home center to check outlet on same circuit.

What is the purpose of the countdown timer? Can you program for just 1 program setting for the full week? When setting program time is the manual on/off switch in the on or off position?

You posted under UPM programmable timers
Open following link to identify product and download manual
http://waterheatertimer.org/UPM-timers-and-manuals.html

Q1) Some UPM timers, and other brands, offer countdown feature in addition to regular programming.
So you choose between regular programming and countdown.
Countdown is for a bathroom fan for example.
Push the button and fan turns on for set amount of time.
After countdown is over, fan turns off automatically.

Q2) Yes all days of the week can be selected.
Set event 1 ON for all days.
Set event 1 OFF for all days.
Do not set more events unless you want more on-off events.

Q3) Switch position depends on model number.
Add a comment with model number to identify product and I will look at manual alongside you.
Or try the switch in different positions.

I am having a problem setting the UPM ETW350 timer, can't seem to have it go off at a certain time. What do I do about the countdown? IS that what I press to go to the time to shut it off?

You posted under UPM 350 programmable timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/UPM-timers-and-manuals.html

Manuals for all UPM timers are missing key explanations, despite the lengthy manual.
I think there are 3 things to look for:
1) Program1 is ON and program2 is OFF and program3 is ON etc.
2) When setting days, be sure that ON and OFF are set for same days so there are no conflicting programs.
3) Timer gives three modes: Countdown and Random and Programming. Countdown is for a bath fan when you want to turn on fan with push of button and have timer turn off fan automatically after the countdown expires. Do not use countdown or random functions when you want timer to perform ordinary on-off functions.

To start timer, Rotate dial from 1 minute to 30 minute.

How do I set the Gemmy Countdown to Christmas Snowman

I am not sure if you found the answer or not. We bought one tonight and did not have the instructions either. What I figured out is the top button will changed from Ct to Cd. The Ct is the time, so you would put in military time for hours min and seconds. The Cd is the date. The first is the last 2 digits of year, then month, then day. I believe the bottom button changed the information and then the top button would change to the next. Hope this helps. Joey
