I have an EPSON Stylus CX7400 printer/copier/scanner. It is out of black ink so we got a new, correct EPSON black ink cartridge. When we tried to change it though, the printer says the cartridge is not compatible with the printer. We thought there might be something wrong with the cartridge (because we've never had this problem before) so we got a new one and it is saying the same thing. The EPSON people said to take it to their service center...which is not very close to us! Any ideas???
Mine acts up this same way (more often than not). I've found that as I install new cartridges, it helps to "tilt" it towards the chip end so that it "rubs" as it's going in. You'd normally hold both sides when replacing a cartridge but I don't even touch the outer end as I do it & it seems to help the printer "see" the replacement when installed.

In some cases the chip on the cartridge will work for multiple models but this doesn't always mean that ALL cartridge colours will be the same.
It sounds like you either have the wrong magenta type or you have a cartridge which is incompatible. I'd look for a supplier that can confirm 100% that they have the correct chip for your printer and try that.
I should warn you that you may find that fixing the magenta provides you with a warning on a different cartridge as sometimes the chips interact with the printer in rather odd ways that give false positives or error indicators.. So be prepared.
Hope this helps somewhat.

You need to open up the maintenance window and go thru the motions that you are changing the cartridges and this resets the ink levels back to full and sends data to the printer saying that they are full and the ink light disappears and it prints fine !!!
Just changing them doesn't seem to do the trick like on a lot of printers

I'm assuming the problem you're getting is that either:
If the problem is: #1 then chances are the cartridges are not compatible with your printer and you've been sold a batch that have the wrong chips (it happens)... If so, contact the seller and request a refund/replacement or just find a more reputable seller.
OR
If the problem is #2 though you can deal with the nagging message by turning off Status Monitor as follows:
Now if you print you should find that the nag screen doesn't show and leaves you alone.
Hopefully this will get you working again.
Cheers.
