Question about Toshiba Equium 100 PC Desktop

DVD ROM won't read disks . Toshiba Equium

DVD/ROM won't read disks . ITs a Toshiba Equium A100-027 and I have already contacted Toshiba support and tried the windows registery key solution and another windows solution , none of them fixed the problem . I also reinstalled the Driver Software.

I have a toshiba equium a300d that wont read disk
The lens in the DVD drive maybe dirty, gently clean the lens with a soft cloth.
If this does not fix the problem then the drive maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.

Is CD/DVD showing in my computer?
Are you reading retail or homemade CDs?
Use retail to test reader, any will do.
Not all homemades work in all readers.

It won't see a blank disk or write to it
CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. ROM stands for "Read Only Memory". On the other hand, CD-RW, DVD-RW stand for "Read/Write". So, if the specs of your laptop say that you only have a DVD-ROM, not COMBO or something ending in RW, then you laptop's optical drive is simply not built for writing to discs.

And install the driver on your NB and restart the NB. If still the same then the ODD you have is already busted what you need to do is to buy a new ODD.

I'm very late to your question, but the problem is that this drive doesn't burn DVDs (i.e., it was not designed to do that). It's a CD-RW, DVD-ROM (read only).

1st, check my computer if you see a dvd icon ?
2nd, whatever you replace a ne dvd-rom, you must reinstall a NEW driver, you can't use the old driver.

check for its functionality in safe mode,. if it still cant explore hwats on your disk, delete upper and lower filter, if no go replace dirve.

Having a trouble with my DVD-ROM - IBM ThinkPad T42
Internal the pickup assy. (the laser) there are three components that read the discs, one for DVD one for CD and one for the DVD-ROM its likely that the DVD-ROM laser has gone out. Take the drive out and get the part number and look it up online on ebay or the like :-)

Toshiba tech support for this one. If it is not accepting the cleaner disk - you have to wonder if something is already intere or do you mean will not rune the disk? Inwhich case it is a drive failure and needs replacement[of drive if available] or whole machine. Contact Toshiba first though it may be a known issue.
