It is more likely your color wheel especialy if Tv makes excesive noise.

Hello, the main chip in the "light engine" has gone bad. Mitsubishi had a program that they were sending out the chip at no charge, but wouldn't pay the labor of changing it. I don't know if they still have that program going, but you might want to contact them. tks

Three small white dots have appeared on the screen. What does it mean, is the lamp going bad?

White dots are caused by the DLP chip failing.This part must be replaced to get rid of the white dots. Samsung is covering the cost to repair this problem on several models. Ypu can call 1-800-samsung to find if your unit is covered.

Yes, it calls DMD chip (digital mircomirror device) that becomes defective and causing white dots all over screen.

try cleaning your screen the holes
that you see on side of set is whear you clean.it
go to walmart and buy lcd cleaner and that should work.

That would be covered under warranty, I believe that's caused by a bad light engine. Normally warranty covers most issues except lamp, unless lamp prematurely dies.

Samsung HLS4266W 43" dlp

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
