Below are the specs to the type of memory that can be installed in the A75...it is very specific and cannot be anything else then what is listed. You have 512 mb built onto the motherboard, with one expansion slot. That slot can only hold up to 1 gb stick if the BIOS has been upgraded. Go to Toshiba support and make sure the BIOS on the machine is up to date so it will accept the larger stick of ram memory and make sure all the specs are right on the stick that you have.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

  • Maximum Memory: 1536MB
  • Slots: 1 (1 bank of 1)
  • Standard Memory: 512, 768, or 1024MB (512MB non-removable)
  • USB Support: 2.x Compliant

Check cable connection PXE-MOF: exiting intel PXE ROM No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

    Hello.

-Possible corrupted BIOS or failing hard drive.
    - When you get the error, try to insert the Windows installation CD that came with the laptop then press any key. Check if that will fix the problem.

-You can also check memory module. There are times some hardware are causing conflicts to the system. Try to remove memory module and check for the error again. If removing the memory module resolves the problem, it's a faulty memory. If not, then it could be a problem with the hard drive. Be sure to take necessary precautions before removing parts on your laptop.
For guide in removing and installing devices on your laptop, you may visit http://support.toshiba.com to download the manual for your laptop.

    - Last option is to reset the BIOS which requires removing the CMOS/Lithium battery for 5 seconds and putting it back. You can do this by opening the bottom panel of the laptop which requires an expert to do it.

    ~~Hope this helps.~~

My toshiba satellite l305d laptop does not boot, screen is blank, fan spins, hdd led does not blink, wlan led does not display, dvd rom light blinks, power led is on

If the power LED lights up it indicates that the laptop is getting power from the AC adapter. Most likely there is nothing wrong with the adapter but just in case test it with a voltmeter to make sure the output voltage is correct.
Also try this. Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery and wait for 1-2 minutes. After that plug the AC adapter ans try starting the laptop again. Sometimes this trick helps.
It also could be a memory related problem. Try reseating the memory module, just remove it from the slot on the motherboard and install it back. Try installing the memory module into the other slot (if it's available). If you have two memory modules installed, try removing them one by one and start the laptop just with one memory module installed.
If the laptop starts fine with one memory module in both slots, but will not start with the second memory module in both slots, the second memory module is faulty. Replace the module.
If the laptop starts fine with both memory modules when they are installed in the slot A, but will not start with both memory modules installed in the slot B, the slot B is faulty and you'll have to replace the motherboard or use only one memory slot.

    hopeyour problem solved

Toshiba Satellite bypasses bios and boots straight into windows please help. Pressing F2 or trying to boot into safemode does not help.

sometimes thewindow of time you have to hit the f2 key is very short. if you can't open the bios by tapping on the f2 button before it says "starting windows", try removing one the the memory sticks and restart with just one installed . The computer should see the change and prompt you into the bios.

    Hi,

Take out the battery and try booting the machine on AC power only. If the machine boots up then let the operating system load up, the shut it down. Remove the AC jack and put the battery back in again, then power it up.

If it boots all is well if it doesn't then there could be a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't start on AC power, what you could do is remove the system memory, clean the brass pins and the slots and then re-seat them/it.

Then try to turn the machine on.

    Good luck.

    Adding memory to a a75-s211

How much memory did it have before you removed the 256Mb RAM?
If it had 756Mb RAM then the memory in the laptop has 512 Mb plus 256 Mb RAM modules, the 256Mb in the slot you can see and possibly 512Mb in a slot under the keyboard or soldered on the motherboard.
Therefore by removing the 256Mb and replacing with 1Gb memory module will give you a total of 1.5Gb
