E 74 got the e 74 error message. i unplugged the hardrive it still shows the 1 red light

• here is info on the red ring of death that i know about and the solutions
• 1 red light means the e74 error
• 2 red lights means the xbox is overheating and was shutted down automatically
• 3 red lights means hardrive error
• 4 red lights means that something is unpluged

the problem is not in the hardrive itself, but its that the hardware scaler chip is damaged. now, microsoft is giving a full refund to people owning units with this error or so i hear. so you can rebuy a new unit payed by microsoft and your problem is solved

E74 is an error related to video. It's either:

• Bad video cable
• Bad graphic chipset issue

Try a different video cable, unplug and plug it back in to make sure the video cable is seated properly. If it's neither of these issues, the only thing to do is to contact Microsoft's customer service and get it replaced/fixed.

Inplug everything.. leave for 1/2 hour unplug power from unit too. Leave for time required it will "Come Back"

this is bad because you need to call 1800myxbox and they will fix it in a about a 2 weeks they will send it back fixed the same thing happened to me.thts the only way to get it fixed
