Boot into windows using the windows xp disc
if it shows up the partition with vista on it delete and proceed with normal xp installation

if the above does not work, use the diagnostic tools that come from your hard drive manufacturer's website to perform a low level format of the vista partition and proceed with clean install of xp

Insert the XP CD into the drive.

When prompted, select delete the partition (usually C) that Vista was installed on.

Then just proceed to install XP onto that partition.

Laptop powers on, but windows doesnt load

Boot PC from Windows XP installation CD you will be ask to instal fresh copy or repair existing installation - go for "fresh copy" software will analyze you PC and try to find your previous copy of Win XP you will be ask again to repair copy of your existing Windows Xp now go for "Repair" option so installation software restore all Windows files and will keep all your settings*.
This solution is only temporary because IE 7 and 8 will no longer work after restoring - backup all your data and instal fresh copy of Win XP after all and always keep Your Backup up to date!!

Erasing music from mp3 player

get pc with usb 2.0 port, and at least win 2000 professional on it
get mp3 player
get install cd for mp3 player (if you have one)

boot up, plug in player, wait for recognition by win2K or above, then treat as if it was an usb-stick or
external harddisk: erase the files you want or format it all to have it blank, copy new files

if not, run hardware detection via device manager, if windows does detect unknown device,
let it find driver from the hardddisk or win setup-cd/dvd, install, try to find as harddisk

or run install from mp3-related cd, choose the right driver fitting your operation system, install
remove mp3-player, reboot, repug, win should now find it automatically!

now erase the music files(mp3's) on your player and/or copy new ones, unplug,

put in fresh battery and enjoy!

Downgrade to XP

Looks like they do not have very many drivers listed for XP on their site, but all of them (obviously) for Vista. I would recommend you not downgrade to XP with that particular laptop. Sorry!

Can you please assist me how to install XP or any OS in hp laptop which has os windows vista?

1) You must have a Bootable O/S CD/DVD
2) You will have to do a clean installation of O/S

If installing Win XP be sure that there are Drivers for the Laptop available for Win XP. If not some of your hardware will not function properly.

I get a ntldr error when trying to run Win XP. I have a dual boot with Vista. I've copied the ntldr and ntdetect.com to the root drive where I've loaded win xp (g:). how can I fix this problem so I can...

The advice I got was good. Check the easy bits first. Is one of the cables to your Hard Drive disconnected?Second: Use your Windows Installation disc, and go to Recovery Console, or Repair an Installation. When you reach the command prompt, typethe following two commands, pressing ENTER after each one: copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\ copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ IF you are prompted to overwrite either of these files, press YES. Take out the Windows CD, type EXIT, and then press ENTER TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. If this doesn't work for you, get in touch with me again, and I'll give you some more things to try
