Sharp LC-42D43U 42 in. HDTV fades and fluctuates in brightness.

We just bought this TV and I have noticed that when watching DVDs the brightness will fade in and out. It almost looks like when you dim the lights. It is not constant, but rather sporadic. It does not seem to be happening unless I am watching a DVD. I am using the same player that I used with my old TV. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

It called dynamic back light, every time seen changes from dark to bright and other way brightness of back light lamps changing too. So, it's a feature of the TV, unfortunately, it does not work properly all the time.

Hello bcall8,

Have you tried watching the TV function when just viewing normal TV? Does the problem still occur? I think the you may have a signal problem in the path between the DVD player and the TV, check your cables. Now what might also be the issue is input of the TV try using different inputs, sometimes there are incompatibilities with some of the input ports and equipment used on those ports. This happens often. If all else fails I would get a schematic and start looking at the RF, HDMI, Composite Video, S Video, and component video inputs and start comparing signals with the information from the schematic.

I hope this helps,
Thank you,

Air analog 3 message keeps popping up what does that mean?

I bought the 32 inch LCD tv. I contacted Sharp. Here is there response.
Thank you for contacting Sharp Electronics Corporation.

The display will populate on screen any time there is a change to the incoming signal (mono to stereo audio, weak/fluctuating signal strength). Unfortunately there is no way to deactivate the on screen display. If you are able, try using an alternate connection (composite video and analog audio; yellow, red and white cables) from your source device (cable/sat box, if using) to the unit. This will prevent this issue from occurring by providing a more consistent signal. Let me know if you have any other questions!
