Integrated microphone... I've never had a monitor with a built-in mic before, so I'm utterly clueless as to why its not working. The only way I've figured out how to test it is to use the system sound recorder, but I get nothing but white noise. Why isn't it working? i mean, should it "just work" or should I have a cord plugged into it somewhere? Please help. Thnx much.

If the monitor actually has a built in mic, you will have to connect a cable from it to the "mic in" jack on your sound card/motherboard, there isn't any way a standard VGA cable can carry that signal back to the comp. Look for a plug, or a separate cable coming out of the monitor.

Where is/are the mic(s) on an Acer H233H display?

The Acer H233H does not have a microphone built into the monitor. Thus you do not have to put tape over the microphone. It does have integrated down-ward firing speakers; the speaker jack is next to the power cord on the back of the monitor. Make sure to connect the included audio cord to the Lime Green audio (speaker) out jack on your computer. All of the jacks on the monitor point down.

If this monitor had a microphone and the blue 3.5 mm audio port, you could keep the microphone disabled simply by not connecting the cable between the monitor and the computer's microphone port.

Acer has the documentation for the H233H monitor in their support section. The direct link to the manual is http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Document/User%20Manual/User%20Manual_Acer_1.0_A_A.zip?acerid=633765057605336286&Step1=MONITOR&Step2=H%20SERIES&Step3=H233H&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6 . This file has the manual in a PDF inside of a compressed folder. You'll need to open the folder to read the manual.

I hope this helps. Web cameras often have microphones. Some laptops often have an integrated web camera; thus they have a microphone mounted on the bezel of the laptop. Blocking that microphone with tape might be useful. I'd block the camera too. For USB connected web cameras, simply unplug the data cable from the computer when you aren't using the camera to disable the microphone.

People are unable to hear me on Skype. The built webcam on monitor is working properly, but the mic is not.

You monitor with built-in web camera may only process the video signal through the USB only, not audio from the microphone, look for analog microphone output jack to hook it up to your PC microphone input.

Asus 19inch monitor with web cam mic not working

double click on the microphone volume thing at the bottom right of your start menu bar, that should bring up your volume levels, make sure the mic isn't muted. Also check to see if there are any microphone cables to plug into your soundcard. It's also possible it's just a webcam and doesn't have a microphone with it.

No sound when connected on aim

Is your microphone integrated into your webcam? Make sure the correct device is selected. Go into Edit, Settings, Enhanced IM. Under Audio and Video, make sure the Microphone device selected is a functioning mic, such as Logitech Mic, or if using a headset, select the USB headset (if usb) or your sound card if using a mic plugged into your built in or add-on sound card.

HOW DO I TAKE THE DISTORTION OUT OF MY PC MICROPHONE THAT IS BUILT INTO MY MONITOR?

Right-click the speaker icon in the right side of the taskbar on the bottom of the screen. Select Audio properties - on the Mic section there should be a checkbox with -10db or something simular there, check that box to see if your microphone performance improves. You can also lower the slider if still less amplification is desired. Built-in mic's are of the lowest quality, and the default amplification setting can be much too high depending on your mic's sensitivity, which will cause extreme distortion. I typically only use them if my main mic fails or is unavailable.
