I just purchased a new Memorex Progressive Scan DVD Player. Whenever PScan is switched on the split screen appears but I am able to see the DVD I have loaded. Whenever split screen is off I can't see anything, the screen is all different colors and fuzzy. We have messed with all the cords. Any idea what we can do?

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.
well on your memorix dvd player you will get a orange triangle that says pscan (progressive scan) you will go to the back of you dvd/vcr and on the right hand side you will see a switch to turn on and off the pscan you will switch it off and you will be set to go
had the split screen with pscan triangle looked for the button on the back, no button but on the remote was a button named V.MODE pressed it and everything back to normal thanks for the help
Memorex MVD2042 - The only switch on the back of the unit had gotten bumped when something fell behind the unit, thus causing the same issue mentioned here. Looking at the front of the unit, the switch is straight back from the disc tray on the left. (of course, if you're looking at the back, it's on the right side) This switch is for "Progressive Scan" either "on" or "off"
