Test Page I changed by black ink cartridge with a new one and now whenever I turn on the printer it prints a test page. Only the top part of the page can be read. The rest is straight lines. How do I stop the test page? Thanks

I have the same problem. After I turn on the printer, I just hit cancel on the printer before it prints the page.

Trying to print documents, white background with black typed words. Problem I have is the printed documents have solid dark blue and solid black ink and the words don't show.

Are the ink cartridges installed in the correct colour order?
Have you printed a test page through the printer's own control panel? What was the result?
Open a new document, using the default settings. Key in some test text. Try printing. What is printed?

My HP Deskjet F380 will only print blank pages. There is plenty of ink left in both cartridges. I've been on the HP help site. It didn't help. It won't photocopy either. It printed the top part...

the body of text of the test page is black ink. From what you describe, the print heads are clogged. Most HPs use cartridges that have the head built in, but if not used for an externded period they can dry up and clog.
Try repeated head cleanings (10 or more) see if any change. If none, try new HP ink cartridges

Cartridge error, refer to devise documentation to troubleshoot

Hello

Turn on the printer and open the cover where the ink cartridge is located. Remove the cartridge.

Place the ink cartridge back in the carriage. Close the cover. Turn the printer off for a minute.

Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this does not correct the problem, move on

Turn on the printer and open the cover where the ink cartridge is located. Remove the cartridge.

Remove the cartridge and use a clean, lint-free, dry cloth to gently wipe the contacts.

Wipe from the top of the contact to the bottom. Do this for each contact.

Place the HP ink cartridge back in the carriage. Turn the printer off for a minute.

Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this does not correct the problem, move on

Turn on the HP printer, open the cover and remove both the black and color cartridge. Close the cover.

Remove the power cord from the outlet and disconnect the cables running to the computer and/or router. Wait one minute, and then plug in the power cord and then the cables.

Open the cover and install the black and color ink cartridges. Turn the printer on.

Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this does not correct the problem, you will need to buy new ink cartridges. Office Max or Wal-Mart have ink cartridges for almost every model of HP Deskjet, Photosmart and Officejet printers.

How to load a MP130 cartridge?

  • 1 Turn on the printer and check the LCD screen for an indication of which ink cartridges are low. Note that recycled ink cartridges sometimes read "Ink low" even when they still have ink, so print a test page if you're not sure.
  • 2 Expose the ink tray by lifting the entire LCD control panel, which is attached to the underside of the copier tray.
  • 3 Pull out the used ink cartridge by pulling straight up from the print head,

  • 4, insert the new cartridge into the print head and push down until you feel a click. Close the printer lid and let the printer reset the ink tray.
  • 5 Print a test page to make sure the new ink works. If it doesn't, you may have forgotten to remove the protective tab under the cartridge.

Ink is printing streaky, but this is my second brand new ink cartridge. Any suggestions?

this symptom signals blocked printhead, you need to do bit of cleaning, not necessarily cahnge the cartridge.

    follow this procedure:
    1. download test page with alternative from this site black:
    http://www.inkjetcartridges.com/_black-print-test.html

    and colour:
    http://www.inkjetcartridges.com/_color-print-test.html

    2. print page each and assess the colour and streaks. if on the beginnig of the page you do have errors and on the bottom all is corrected, this meant that you just cleaned your printhead nozzles and problem is solved.
3, if problem persist, from stationery store purchase few pages of absorbent paper, weight of about 120 to 160, do not use thicker than 160 and print these colour pages again,
    4. print control page again and see if any improvement was made, if there were no changes, follow this procedure:

    a. remove cartridges from craddle
    b. determine what is ink solvent, water, isopropyl alcohol or methylated alcohol - correct solvent will be that which do not precipitate or curdle the ink
    c. touch with absorbent tissuebottom of the cartridge and check if it is leaving even print, if not, whipe once with solvent
    d. put a drop of solvent on gold/silver buttons inside of the craddle, allow to sink for about a minute, whipe off with absorbent tissue
    e. put again a drop of solvent on the button in the craddle and insert ink cartridge
    f. print test page, page will be very weak on the top (solvent print first!) and improve as it prints down, if necessary, print again colour or black test page from 1.

this should solve your streaking head problems, if they still persist, this meant that print heads are really well blocked by caked ink and usually is cheaper to change printer than change the head in it...

if you find this advice useful, please do not hesitate to leafe your feedback and vote for me, thanx!

HP Photosmart C 4200 printer will not print in black. Will print all other colors

Try to  print a test page first. To print a test page press and hold the bottons power and cancel together. The test page will show you the amount of ink left in the cartridges.  If the black ink color bar is not visible in  the, than it will mean that the ink is low or depleted. Try a new genuine HP ink cartridge. It should help you.

HP Photosmart C3100 series BEWARE SPAM NUMBER 1-800-532-4187

I just got off the HP help line.  After changing my black ink cartridge a test page was printing each time I turned the machine on.  This is very costly, in both time and ink as the cartridges themselves for this machine hold very little ink.  I tried to learn from HP tech how to turn off the test-print while keeping my color cartridge empty.  It turns out that you cant do it.  HP requires you to keep buying and using cartridges whether you need them or not.If you buy the color ink it will use it up in its testings.  And if you dont buy the color cartridge it will use up your black ink by printing the test each time you turn on the printer.  The printer was inexpensive sure, but I'm paying for it in wasted ink.
