One common cause of paper feed issues is a build up of dust on the printer's rear paper feed roller. This roller consists of a plastic axle with one rubber roller on each side. This is located in the automatic sheet feeder and is referred to as the "Pick Roller." As dust builds up on the rubber rollers, they become less tacky and therefore unable to grab a single sheet of paper.

To prevent and/or cure this type of paper feed problem, these rubber rollers should be cleaned. Unplug the printer's power cord and remove the paper from the automatic sheet feeder. Locate the pick roller and clean the rubber wheels on the left and right with a cloth dampened with warm water (be sure there is no excess water on the cloth as it may drip into the machine). After these are free of any dust or ink build up, reload the paper and plug the power cord back in. The paper should then feed normally.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:
1. Turn the power to the printer off by pressing the "Power" button once.
2. Press and hold the "Copy" button.
3. Continue holding the "Copy" button, while pressing the "Power" button once to turn the power back on.
4. Once the light on the "Power" button flashes, release the "Copy" button. This should start the Self-Test.
The self-test should print out a set of black and color bars.
Should this test fail, remove the cartridge and try it again without the cartridge installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, you may have a paper jam, or the printer may require service.
Remove the paper from the printer and check for any obstacles (pens, thumbtacks, paper clips, etc.) or other obstructions. If you don't see any, disconnect the cables from the printer, turn it upside down and gently shake it to see if anything falls out. (Be careful to hold the cover shut during this procedure, and don't look up into the printer while you're shaking it.) In the event nothing comes out of the printer, you may require service to the printer. Stop here and let us know if this is the case, and we can provide you with further instructions.
If the self-test completes without the cartridge installed, run the self-test again with the color cartridge installed. If you find that the cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.
If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues - we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.

If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

Paper slipping Lexmark X2470

Leading cause of paper jams or misfeeds is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also carefully turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.
  4. If feeder is clear, place the printer on the table. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions in the paper path.
  6. Close the printer cover.
  7. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
  8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I have a lexmark x2470 printer.i would like to know whether it as one cartidge or two cartridges.please let me know if it is available in indaia

HI,

Please note that the #2 cartridge is the starter cartridge and the after market cartridge is the #1 cartridge.

The Lexmark X2470 printer uses the #1 cartridge which prints both color and black accordingly. While printing black it uses processed black. Hence, to print color images in "Black Only," please follow the steps given below:
1. Click on "Start," "All Programs," "Lexmark X2470 printer" group and then "Lexmark Photo Editor."
2. Click on "File" and then "Open" to select the color image file.
3. Click on "Image," "Mode" and then select "Grayscale."
4. Click on "Print."
This will print the image in gray.

Changing a print cartridge
Removing a used print cartridge
1
Make sure the printer is on.
2 Lift the scanner unit.
The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the printer is busy.
3 Press down on the lever to raise the cartridge lid.
4 Remove the used print cartridge.

Can't figure out how to print on statement sized paper.

After I had been attempting to adjust the paper guides in the feeder tray to accommodate statement-size paper, I finally "discovered" the drop-down door to the manual feed tray.  Duh!  This is a networked printer that I've only ever used for printing letter and legal sized documents until now.

Lexmark X2470 printer wont print/connect time executable stopped

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Lexmark paper stuck

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Good luck....
