Consew 230 continually breaks top thread at needle

I have a consew 230 that continually breaks the top thread at the needle when sewing thicker fabrics. This problem has only developed since changing a broken needle. I have checked & changed needles a couple of times, to no avail. It still sews thinner fabrics beautifully. I have thoroughly cleaned the machine also. Help please! Brenda

What size thread are you using? With thicker fabrics, you should be using at least a size 50. Even a 30 would be better.

I need a manual for a model 230 consew, I recently bought it from a friend, I want to learn how to thread it, and wind my bobbins, can you help me, unable to find one

You can go to the consew official website and download the PDF file for the 210 model. It's the same as the 230 r-1 (which i have). I found this information by calling the consew headquarters. You can also download a PDF with the full parts list for the 230 model specifically. This link may help http://www.consew.com/default.aspx?pageId=4

My consew 230 sewing machine is not holding the thred on the needle. every time i thred the needle and step on the paddle to sew, the needle comes back out unthred, please help.

before starting to sew
1.make sure the top thread & bobbin thread have a thread tail of 3 to 6 inches
2.make sure the thread tails are pulled behind the needle toward the back of the machine

then put the fabric under the presser foot to sew

when your finished with the seam, after the thread is cut from the fabric,, leave the thread tail the same as above before starting to sew again

I bought a consew 230 industrial machine, but when I try to sew on it the needle breaks. What do I need to check, the threading, needle or what?

make sure the needle is inserted correctly
check the needle clamp screw to make sure it's tight
the needle is to fine for the fabric being used
also make sure under the needle plate there is no lint
also in bobbin area
also check the tension

Thread keeps breaking when sewing through thicker materials

When you sew any thick material on any machine the needle cannot form the loop properly as the needle comes up because the material is keep the tread tight to the needle, the only real way round it is to sew slowly.
