Why does the model and serial number keep popping up on my sony monitor?

NO As serial number can be for ANYTHING. Always Model number needed, serial number not important. What is the unit you need a model number for. !

If the picture disappears from the screen and the

Turn off the 1 (power) switch and disconnect the
video signal cables from the monitor.

Turn the monitor on by pressing the 1 (power)
switch.
If all four color bars appear (white, red, green, blue), the monitor
is working properly. Reconnect the video signal cables and check
the condition of your computer(s).
If the color bars do not appear, there is a potential monitor failure.
Inform your authorized Sony dealer of the monitor's condition.

monitor. Also note the make and model of your computer and
graphics board.

This is not an inverter problem. The inverter only powers the fluorescent lamps in the back of the LCD panel.

It is probably a fault in the LCD data decoder circuit or a failing connector between the decoder circuit board and the glass LCD panel. If you took it in to a shop, they would probably charge you a full hour's labor minimum - compare that with the price of a new LCD monitor.

vijipakki, You or technician will need to look for bad capacitors (tops of them swollen) on the "switch-mode-power-supply" circuit board. What is correct model number of your unit and the "date of manufacture" from rear of unit?? click on "comment" to leave a reply. 12fixlouie

You are precisely right. This happens in Sony models. Have expirienced a lot of this problems relating this issue and all of them have been on Sony and Viewsonic LCD 19" and 22".

r u sure about model number.bcoz 55v does't come with menu.
replace regulator 7805 near microcontroller if it is model 56v.

Try this:

Under the menu options, there's Menu Lock. Switch it to "On". It worked for me.
My menu button wasn't working, so to access the menu, I had to hold down the arrow up button and push the arrow down button till I got to the Menu Lock Option.
