You will need to check the cylinder for scarring (deep vertical grooves or depressions in the cylinder) and also the piston rings for damage. Sometimes you need to shine a flashlight behind the piston and look down the cylinder to see if there is any wear. If you are only getting 3-4 lbs of pressure your piston is not pumping therefore I would think that the air is just blowing by the piston. Also check your connecting rod and wrist pin. Sometimes the bearing will blow out and not make the rod go completely up and down. Does the motor sound like it is bogging down at all? Make sure you drain all oil and remove the crankcase cover to inspect for any damage. Post back with any questions, I will monitor this post.
