Was running water through our Moen single-handle kitchen faucet when suddenly the water stopped coming out. The spray mechanism continued to work fine, however. I replaced the cartridge, but when I turn on the water I heard a thump and nothing came out of the faucet but, again, the sprayer worked fine. The thump you hear when you turn on the faucet is remindful of the thump you hear when you turn on the sprayer. I'm assuming it's an automatic shutoff mechansim for the sprayer. Could that be stuck or slamming shut for some reason? If so, how do you fix this? If not, what do you think the problem is? Thanks for your help -- puzzled

Finding brand specific replacement parts in stock for a 20+ yo faucet without a Mod.# is quite the task, implying that you would have to do a side by side compareson/inspection. If in fact that part is not obsolete.
Maybe you should consider replacing the entire faucet.
Good luck

If it's leaking at sprayer, and not the base where connected to hose, try this. Buy a bottle or jug of CLR. (calcium, lime, rust ) from hardware store, and pour enough in a bowl that will submerse sprayer in it. When you go to bed, or out for a few hours, turn off both taps (obviously) and relieve all pressure as well from sprayer. Now wrap an elastic around the handle of the sprayer so that lever is depressed, and submerse it in the bowl of CLR, and let it work overnight or at least for a few hours. Next Day, or Later, remove elastic from sprayer, and try it a few times and see if leak has stopped. Quite often you get calcium build up on internal washer/seal, and this will clean it off. If no CLR, you can try vinegar as well, but I find CLR better. If it appears better but not stopped completely, give it another treatment.

The diverter valve in the faucet may be stuck or bad. This web site has some views of faucet internal parts. Hope this is helpful to you.
