I CHANGED THE INK TANK AND I GET BLANK PAPER ITDOES NOT PRINT
I have had my ip1500 since 10/04. Sometimes the ink will dry out if it is not used for some time. Try cleaning the printhead by soaking it in about 1/2" of hot water. Keep changing the hot water until no more ink comes out. Make sure you do not get the contacts wet ( just the base of the head). Dry completely and do a nozzle check and cleaning before doing a major print job. I have used generic ink and have printed more than a case of paper (12 reams) per year in both color and black.
Your printer maybe long period of time does not use , the head already dry , replace w/ " original canon ink" not a generic.

I replaced both ink cartridges and have two problems.
1) When I am in Adobe Photo Essentials 4.0 my black and white scanned photos (Microtek i800 scanner) print out green.
2) I attempted to remove the Pixma printer driver and reinstall. I was informed by the printer program that I must have "administrator" authority to do this. I DO HAVE "administrator" authority and I still can not install the driver. Now the printer does not print anthing - text or photos. I am using a Dell Latitude D600 laptop.
Thank you for any help you might provide!

I put in a new cartridge and it printed a blank paper. Cleaned head. Still blank.
