How do I set my scanner to scan text to transfer to a Text program on my Mac?

I'm trying to scan some text, which it does, but there's nothing that tells me where I want to send this text to for further editing.  What do I do?

Well you have to do the scan and then save it so when the file is going to be save thats when it will ask you where you wants to save it or do a scan and name it than save it and than just do a search from start search and put the name that will tell you the exact location for your scan files nut must to the time that one goes by defaul to my documents

How do you retrieve text from an image?

You can capture text from a scanned image, upload your image file from your computer, or take a screenshot on your desktop. Then simply right click on the image, and select Grab Text. The text from your scanned PDF can then be copied and pasted into other programs and applications.

I want to save scan to ms word 2010

is it a text document that you scanned? if so the scanned document will be saved as a picture type of file, depending on which you selected when you set up you scanner. it will be a .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .png, .tiff, ect. If you want it to be a text document in word then you need to have a program that can read the text while it's scanned. The program is known as an OCR Program. It will make text in pictures become searchable as text. If this is what you are trying to accomplish, if you just want a picture to appear in a page in a document, simply choose to add the picture by importing it to the document as a picture. Some scanners will come with Programs like this bundled for free and others may even have this ability programmed in if you go into the settings you will be able to choose that option. There are a few free OCR programs for free. I think it stands for Ocular Context Recognition some can even read hand written text.

I can't scan on my lexmark printer model x5650. When I scan a document it gives me the message " Install the OCR from the OCR folder". I can't find the OCR folder in my computer. What should I do".

The Lexmark OCR scan software is available in the installation disk that came with the printer. You can explore the installation disk and look for the Abby setup application in the OCR folder (for Windows). For Mac OS, right-click on the Install icon and choose Show Package Contents. Open Contents folder > open Package folder and manually install the Abby Finereader application.
However, if you don't have the installation disk, contact Lexmark technical support. Thanks.

Hello I have recently purchased a second-hand CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner and it was accompanied by OmniPage SE Software. The reason for this purchase was to scan research papers for a friend. My experience...

Don't use the OmniPage software for scanning. OmniPage is an OCR (optical character recognition) program and is trying to convert the scan into a document compatible with a text editor (such as Microsoft Word). Use a graphics editing program, and use the option to 'Import' or 'Acquire' an image. Make sure that the LiDE 25 is specified as the scanner, and you should be linked to the scanner interface. Now when the scan is complete, it will be transferred to the graphics editor as an image, not a document.

Bad contrast with scanner

Last things first: NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE.

That's the way HP does things. There are no rheostats or pots to adjust. It's all done electronically now, with chips and things.

You never said how it does with color or greyscale photos or drawings.

As for the RGB=(64,64,64), that's about right for the scan picture settings and the mixed (text and graphics) setting, and is particularly true for color picture settings. Have you tried using the setting for drawings (or line art), specifically greyscale drawings? Usually the greyscale lineart or drawing setting will render black text. You might also try scanning with the settings set for Text. If the greyscale drawing settings or greyscale text settings do not produce black text, try reinstalling your software and drivers.

If the contrast stays the same for all settings after reinstalling the software and drivers, and if it doesn't scan color and greyscale pictures correctly, then it sounds like your scanner is going bad.

As for the scans you've already done, you can darken the text by taking it into a photo editor, such as Paint Shop Pro or Photo Shop, and adjust the contrast and brightness to get the effect you desire.

Scanning a document to edit the text.

you need a program to recognize the characters in the image to be edited. try checking this list of OCR programs...but i think those are trial versions only.

Scanner

are you pressing ok on the printer? all of your scanning should be done via the MP460 navigator. check your applications under the Canon Utlitiy and click on the MP460 Navigator button. scanning needs to be done via that - not the actual printer. refer to the dialogue box when you are on the MP460 navigator. lower left area has a Save bar, when you click on it tow options: save to PC or save as PDF.
