Picture quality Hi i have recently purchased a new samsung le32r8 lcd tv and when the menu comes up on the screen the picture quality is excellent but the normal main picture behind is not the sort of quality that i exspected and when you watch fast moving objects on the screen, it looks very pixellated and the picture was better on my old tv with an old ariel attached to it. I have my new tv connected to sky so the picture should be excellent {should it}....

My Samung LE32R8 will not respond to my remote control although I have replaced with new batteries the remote is clean at the end and also the sensor on the tv is clean any ideas thank you.PS the tv works ok manualy.

That sounds very normal to me. When your watching a HD channel, and a commercial comes on and the screen gets smaller with as you say the black bars, just means that the commercial is not broadcasting in HD. You can change it by pushing the button on your TV remote that says picture, but you are streaching the screen and are going to loose the quality of the picture. You may also want to spend a few hours, going into you TV settings and just start playing with the settings. Just remember where they were before you change something. You can also purchase a guide to LCD settings to point you in the right direction. If you have your TV set to vivid or one of the preset picure modes, it is costing you more power and you are not getting the best picture that the TV can produce. Play around with the custom setting or buy one of those calibration CD's off the internet.

The RCA plugs are the three (yellow = video, red and white = audio) ports on the TV. Look for "In" to hook up the corresponding cables. I hope this helps.

Hi - I have some suggestions. The following factors effect picture quality:
1. Source (because LCD TVs have much higher picture quality than traditional CRT "Tube" TVs, the worse your source material, the worse it looks on a LCD TV).
DVD and Sky/Digital TV should look excellent on this TV when connected with a good quality Scart lead (nothing too expensive, but a Oxygen Free Copper Gold lead may help) directly into one of the TV's Scart inputs (avoid using "switching" boxes for multiple equipment).
Also, bear in mind that this is a HUGE screen (40 inches I think) and will REALLY show up bad source material.
The best advice I can give is, if you have HD-ready equipment use HDMI connections for everything (ideally with an HD-uplscaling DVD player which will "improve" the quality of standard DVDs on the TV - I recommend models by Philips) and check that you are in "Movie" or "Cinema" mode on the TV.
Make sure that all of your equipment, like your Sky digibox, is set to 16:9 mode (not 4:3) aswell to preserve the true widescreen aspect ratio.

The TV is probably in Shop mode, when your TV is initially turned on you can choose between Shop mode or Home Mode.
In Shop mode the TV automaticly returns to the standard setting after a while, they do this so customers can "play" with it.

Press down de Volume button and then hold down the Menu button for five seconds on the side panel of the tv.
