Hi Peggy, could be bad door latch. The door latch keeps the door closed and the water inside while the dishwasher is operating. The door latch is connected to a switch, which will not allow the dishwasher to start unless the door is properly closed.

Dishwasher Door Latch (part #W10275768) - How To Replace ...Dishwasher Door Latch Replacement - Bosch DishwasherRepair (part ...
check latch on dishwasher side of the unit to make sure it has `nt got loose they make them so you can remove them when the unit is discarded so children can`t get trapped in side
twist a paperclip around some pliers so you have a circle opening. then hook the paperclip around the latch and pull outward with the pliers. once the latch is facing outwards the door should close again
Sounds like the actual dispencer mechanisum is worn or faulty either the latch or the catch you can usualy buy the whole unit to replace this, all this does is keeps the tablet in during the initial pre wash then adds the tablet during the wash after 5 mins open the door and drop the tablet in it will still work the same and save cost
