Dont't boot anymore since my power supply died

Hello,

I have a ASUS P5GD1 motherboard with a Intel P4 3.0. It was feed by a 300W power supply and it died (no boot, no led and smell burn...)

Then I bought a new ATX psu 450W, I connect the 24pin and 4pin connectors then now power is back (green led on the MB) but the system doesn't boot. It does 1 beep and stop at "Asus P5GD1" screen. I tried without success to enter the BIOS with the DEL key. If I press the DEL key right away when I power on the system, it stop at the "American Megatrends" screen and the last line is "Initializing USB controllers...."

I tried to replaced my new PSU for a 550W but got the same issue. Any idea ?

Thanks for your help.

When the power supply failed, it took the motherboard out at the same time. Time to replace it.

Will an asus p5gd1-fm motherboard support an intel e8400 core 2 duo 3.00ghz cpu?

No, that motherboard is 915P socket, and the E8400 is Socket LGA775, you will need a new motherboard to use that CPU.

ASUS P5GD1-V3/8 MOTHER NOT INITIALIZE NO SOUND ONLY MOTHERBOARD GREEN LIGHT ON CPU FAN INITIALIZE AND STOP

I've been having a similar issue with my ASUS M2N68-AM and have found that it was DOA (Dead on Arrival). Try removing all of the components of the machine aside from the processor, heat sink, and power connections to your motherboard. If your machine does not boot up with this configuration either your processor or motherboard have gone bad. Check to see if you have a green light on the board, if you see a yellow light either steady or solid you have an issue with either the power supply or motherboard, consult your motherboard setup guide for color definitions of errors.

The first link is for Asus. I entered your info so all you have to do is click search and enter your operating system. I don't see an app for Win 7 if that's what your looking for. Keep in mind that before you download new software, you have to unistall any prior software.

ASUS P5GD1-VM motherboard not booting when powered on

First are you sure it is the CPU fan and not the Power Supply fan? Open up the case and make sure the power supply cable is snug into the slot. Make sure that Pin 1 is lined up with Pin 1 on the motherboard. There should be a notch or red dot or different looking Pin to show you where pin 1 is...sounds like it may be a connection problem from power supply to motherboard...try that and let me know what happens we have other options but have to start somewhere..
