Replacing front panel

The labels for the oven temperature etc on the front panel of my Smeg A2.2 range have been worn off by the previous owner (over zealous cleaning).

I've found somebody who will sell the spare part but my question is, is this easily (DIY) installed? Or do I need a Smeg engineer?

    Numbers I can find are on label in pan drawer:

    Mod A2-2Type C10V1xx
    N 452 30587

    Is that what you need?

    The labels for the oven temperature etc on the front panel of my Smeg

    cleaning). Also my fan has stopped working on normal mode. It works only when the grill and fan is open. I used to work without grill before.

The light and fan works but no heat comes on in oven.
This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

If this is because the labels have worn off the dials then manuals can be accessed from http://www.smegappliances.com.au/Category-18-Single.aspx
Select the model (closest is probably the SA304X-8) and then download the 50 page manual in pdf format (slow).

Smeg A2 - Oven gets too hot
is there a heat probe inside the oven? sound like you owen is overheating. i would check the TOD, if the oven has one. this thermostat regulates the temperature and if it's "open" it needs to be replaced.
