Facebook homepage not loading correctly (white screen)

Facebook homepage not loading correctly - only recognized if I make it https:// and not http:// but the home page links within facebook will still fail when I try to go from an application to my home again. How do I get my browser to recognize facebook as a secure server all the time? IE8 is used on Vista. Is this some kind of ISP blocking thing to cut down on bandwidth and page hits?

You shouldn't be accessing facebook through HTTPS. Try adding facebook to your trusted zones by clicking "Tools", "Internet Options", select the "Security" tab, click on "Trusted Sites" with the green check mark, type in "*.facebook.com" without the quotes and uncheck the box toward the bottom of the dialog. Now click add and you should see *.facebook.com in the list. Click "Close". Now click on the "Privacy" tab, and move the slider down to "Accept all cookies" Click "Apply" then "OK". Try facebook again.

Let me know if this works! :)

Please vote on my solution :D

Facebook is blocked

I just answered this question for another person.
One way might be to put the IP of Facebook directly into the address bar, like so: http://69.63.189.11/ This might work, but probably won't.
A better way would be to use an online proxy like http://hidemyass.com/. Just put http://facebook.com/ into the box on their main page and press "Hide My ***" and it should proxy the page for you. Alternatively, this direct link should take you to their homepage: http://1.hidemyass.com/ip-1/encoded/Oi8vd3d3LmZhY2Vib29rLmNvbS8%3D
Bear in mind that proxies are slower, and easily overtaxed. If hidemyass.com is also blocked, there are a bunch of other easy proxies out there:
https://aniscartujo.com/webproxy/ https://browse007.com/ https://enoughschool.com/ https://hidemy.biz/https://nobodycanstop.us/ http://polysolve.com/ https://schoolisgood.com/

Here's the other person's question: http://www.fixya.com/support/t8505020-unblocked_facebook

How can you make google a home page?

If you're using internet explorer as your web browser, go to www.google.com. When the page has loaded, click the arrow next to the little picture of the house at the top of the screen on the right and click "add or change homepage" then select "use this page as your only homepage"

If you are using Firefox, click "tools" at the top of the screen and select "options" in the window which will appear, next to where it says "homepage" delete the contents of the white box and type "http://www.google.com" then click "ok"

Hope this helps.
