Okay. The is kind of complicated but I think I can explain what is wrong and how to fix it. You need to tell the DVD player what resolution to broadcast on. If you have it hook up on component, I would hook it back up to composit and go through the menu's and tell it progressive scan. IF you have it hook up composite tell it regular scan. Composite cable will only have three ends on yellow, red, and white. Componite have five ends on it. Red, Green, Blue, and Red for Audio, and white.

I have a 42" Sanyo TV I have sound but no picture

Make sure you have the correct cables connected to the right ports. Single cables (RCA) carry one for sound, and one for the picture; an HDMI cable carries all in one.

I am hooking this unit up to a fairly new TV. and I have plugged in the AV cables to the TV from the DVD unit, though I only have the red green and blue cables and tyhere appears to be 6 slots, and I get...

Hi,

If you have only connected red green and blue (component) plugs, you will have no audio as these 3 plugs are all for video and all are required or you will get a black and white picture.

You currently have 3 spare slots/sockets. You need to connect another RCA type audio cable (2 plugs - red and white) from the left and right audio out sockets on the DVD player to the left and right audio in sockets on the TV. Do not disconnect any of the red, green and blue plugs to use for the audio connection!

Red is normally right and white is left, but it doesn't matter which round you connect them as long as you connect right to right and left to left. The yellow socket is for composite video so make sure you don't connect either of the audio cables to this socket or you will get mono sound.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

No sound on play back using camcorder on technika tv

Looks like you are using Component cables. There are five cables. The first three cables are Green,Blue and Red. These are the ones that are molded next to each other and are the Video signal cables. The other two cables are Red and White and they are the audio cables.
First to correctly hook up these cables you need to Connect (Match) Color for Color. (Green to Green, Blue to Blue, and Red to Red. To tell if you have correctly connected the Video cables is to look at the screen. If the picture looks ok (Normal with no colors missing then you have connected the video cables correctly). If you see a missing color meaning red, then switch the Red cables. The picture should be ok now. The remaining two cables are the Red and White cables. The "Red cable" is for the "Right" audio input and the "White" cable is for the "Left" audio Input". If all is connected correctly then you should have a good picture and Left and Right audio.

HD cable question

It sounds like you dont have the right HD box. When connecting HD you will use an HDMI cable or a component cable consisting of 5 cable total 3 for video two for audio. Coax cable is not used to connect HD to your TV / Monitor.

No Sound

sounds like you are using componant cables.[ red, blue, green on the right side in back of the cable box for the picture, & red & white cables for the sound.] make sure the red & white cables are connected to the middle white & red outputs of the cable box to the tv's red & white inputs, not outputs. hope this helps.
