If you are wanting to run stricktly wireless then no if your router is not wireless ready. If it only has wired connections and not wireless capable you will have to be wired into it using a cable.

2-Wire 3800HGV-B bridge mode

Hello my friend,
You can disable all routing functions for your Home Portal. I never advise this as a course of action as it typically causes more issues than it resolves - so procede at your own risk.

- use the button on the back to reset to factory state (hold for 30 seconds)
- browse to gateway.2wire.net/mdc
- click on configure under broadband link
- set ATM PVC search to disabled
- set connection type to direct IP
- click on configure services under the advanced heading
- take note of the text under "If you want to connect to the gateway when it is in bridged mode"
- un-check the enable routing box
- submit your settings

Good Luck!

Because the linksys is talking about SecureEasySetup which most lynksys routers use. The 2wire 3800HGV-B button is not a SecureEasySetup button.

Can't get adapter to work

Hi,

Please, plug the network component to a USB port of your computer. Wait a few seconds to see if it detects it. If it does detect it, you will see in the Network section an icon for the wireless card. To make it easier to troubleshoot, here's a link to Microsoft website.

*Heres the thing youre doing the right thing install the driver, make sure that you remove the the 2wire wireless manager in the add/remove program and leave the 2Wire Wireless LAN USB driver

*To connect your computer to the 2WIRE router make sure you know your SSID or the network name and the network key, if you call the AT&T Uverse tech support they will ask you to configure the wireles network key to your phone number

*The default SSID is 2wire and the last 3 digits of the serial number of your Router and the Default Netowrk key is located @ the bottom of the router theres a sticker and it is under S/N
