Dell 1100MP Projector, unit stopped working, I assumed it needed a new bulb months ago. I got one today and it appears it is a fan issue. Lamp/Heat lights orange on start but picture fine, auto shuts off in 2 minutes or less with Temp light flashing orange. Seems I need fan, but I can't seem to get the case off.

This is a very common problem with these projectors. The fans lock up and the units are out of warrenty. The fan you replace it with must be the exact same as the old one, even though it is the same as a 5$ computer fan. The processor will detect the non-dell fan and shutdown in the same way.I Havent been able to find any replacement fans that will work. I may be interested in buying your broken projector from you if you give up.

Email me at: nalexandrov251[A-T]gmail.com and we might be abe to work something out.

There is one last screw that you may not notice next to the lens. You have to take a knife and pop a cap off to get to it

its definitly a cooling issue.the temp sensor is working because it shuts the unit down.when a lamp goes it goes just like a light bulb.you can open up the unit and locate the fan take it out and go to a radio shack a match it up to a universal fan.

Dell 1100MP turns off randomly. Replaced bulb but same fault ocurrs? Will stay on for 20mins then turn off, re-boot will stay on for 3 hours then turn off. Now has just turned itself off 3 times in 30mins?...

Sounds like a broken fan. There is two fans fitted, if one stops working the it activates a thermal cut out. I purchased a fan from ebay for £5.00 incl postage size is 70x70x20.

Panasonic PT-AE900U Projector Lamp stops working (intermittent)

Could be a heat sensor, fan bearing issue..have you listened to the fan speed etc, But I think more along the lines of the lamp needs replacing..each time you resit it is thinking ah a new lamp and then realises hey someone is fooling me and shuts down...this scenario is doing you a favour as typically if it blew and shattered the glass it will inevitablly scratch the mirror and lcd block... and if it does that you might as well toss it in the rubbish or sell on ebay for $50 ..

Wont start up

Hi,

Pls clean the filters and check the lamp by opening the lamp cover. If lamp looks okay in all aspects then send the projector to any engineer to check the ballast unit of the lamp.

Overheating

Hello,

Please clean the filters for the air and the air circulation path for cooling the lamp.

This will definitely work, pls also check that the condition of lamp is okay or not as sometimes lamp goes with the ballast unit of the lamp and that damages the new lamp.

Dell 1100mp "Temp" Light

I had the same problem and fixed it today. The fan is 70 x 70 x 20mm. I could not find the exact one, but 70 x 70 x 15 works just fine and I was able to find that fan at a Micro Center store for $8.99. The fans should be blowing air out from the front of the machine, not blowing in on the lamp.
