You should use the auto-program function in the customer menu. It will prompt you to select which antenna input you wish to program and then ask if you are on cable or receiving signals via "air" or "broadcast" mode. Allow the TV to load all the channels. You may notice that the auto program mode may move along quickly during the addition of analog channels and that during the scanning of the digital channels that it may look like nothing is happening. Patience is a virtue here. Wait until it has completely scanned both analog and digital bands and you will recieve both versions of the station's signal. If, for example, you have a local channel 5, the digital version will be 5-1, and so on.

Good luck!

For the solutution repair of the Gateway Model GTW-L17M103 TV 1/2 lit screen - I was told by a local authorized Sanyo Flat Screen Repair shop that the lamp or bulb is going out and needs to be replaced. He said the replacement would run around $125. I have the same problem as well and now am seeking to purchase a lamp/bulb.

SOURCE: Can't view local HD with built-in QAM tuner on Sharp Aquos LED

I found this solution at ehow.com and it works: http://www.ehow.com/how_5417083_hd-channels-comcast.html. You'll just have to switch over to another input to view the HD channels.

Do I need a digital converter box & antenna to get

It really depends upon your TV. If your TV is newer and has an ATSC tuner in it, then no - you'll just need the antenna. However, if your TV is older and doesn't have an ATSC tuner, you'll need an external tuner, what you're calling digital convertor, and an antenna to get the local channels. Use Google or another search engine to find the specifications for your TV to see if it has an ATSC tuner. Or, connect an antenna to your TV, run the channel scan (off-air antenna mode) to see if you get any local channels. If you don't, you'll need the external tuner.

HD Tuner

The Gateway GTW-P42M303 can display HD content. However, you will need a set-top box to get that content. The TV only has an analog tuner (NTSC or PAL, depending on the area where you purchased the TV). Thus, you will need to connect a digital-to-analog converter to get most over-the-air stations. (Only low power stations are still broadcasting in analog.) Most of the common d-t-a converters only provided SD (480i) output. There are some HD tuner boxes available; you may have a hard time finding them.

If you have cable or satellite service, then you can get the HD programming package and view it on this TV.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Trying to hook up a digital antenna but no channels coming in

You need to get a connection from a local cable or wireless service with a set top box to be connected to the input. Please check with your local operator and see if the set top box is needed for the digital feed.
Otherwise you might need a dish with the LNB to be used to the TV. Digital tuner means that the tuner is working to scan and memorising the full band width of the channels with digital processing and thus faster and crisp.
Check the details of the TV from a forum:

Digital Signal?

This TV does not have a digital tuner built in, so you'll need a converter box if you want to get off-the-air digital broadcasts. These boxes are available at all big retailers and on-line. The US Gov't is offering $40 coupons to help pay for these, but the program is out of money and all you can do is go on a waiting list at this time. Information is at www.dtv2009.gov.

Do I have digital tuner?

No, this set does not have a digital tuner. The TV must be an HDTV in order to have a digital tuner built in.

Convertor box and Sony Wega with PIP (2 Tuners) and new Digital DVR/VCR

I wonder if the RF interference from the digital tuner. That box will only allow ouput either through the coax or the AV ports. If you do both you will not get a picture.

If you switch them you have to tell the box what your using for output by going through the setup process.

Is the Zenith 901 converter box for your cable TV.
