Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.
Go to this site: http://www.maytag.com/support/manuals_literature.jsp
Enter your model number CWE5800A
It will ask you what kind of visitor you are... enter that in the drop down menu (Consumer)
There ae 9 manuals for this unit... the alpha letters after 5800 of your model number are what will determine which manual you down load.
Self clean steps are on page 9 of the manual. Make sure you read the steps "Before Self-Cleaning" It will tell you to remove the racks and some other important steps.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
When you use self clean the 900 degree temperature damages the electronics. I do not advise using that feature. Get some oven cleaner and do it the old fashioned way. My opinion.
This is normal, don't panic! You have to let it cool off. Cool down can take up to 2 hours (after the clean cycle is done). The companies do not factor in cool down time into the length of the clean cycle. The oven reaches about 750 to 800 degrees during self clean so give it some time.
Never ever use the self cleaning feature. It is there to make your life a little easier, but it also damages elements, door locks and control boards. The heat is just too aggressive. We see it here VERY often. It is a great way for the appliance makers to earn income in spares. Use the traditional method, spray walls, base and racks in the oven with Easy Off - No Odor Foam, and put a large roasting pan of boiling water in the middle shelf (this prevents the spray drying off). Leave overnight, and wash off in the morning.
I continued a search and found a manual on line... simple process to turn on self-cleaning operation... close the door and set to "clean" ... timer on this model is automatic... runs for 3 1/2 hours.. fan continues for an additional 30 minutes ... open the door and the oven is clean. Thanks
