I have an Onkyo TX-SR701 that won't turn on

I have an Onkyo TX-SR701 and it was working fine last night. My wife went to turn it on this morning and it won't turn on. The red standy light is on, but the amp won't turn on. Any thoughts?
I'm at work right now or I would check fuses first, but, if it's not that, what else should I be looking at?
A repair center??? DOH!

The fuses are the first look, Then make sure that the speakers are connected properly and the wires are not shorting together. It sounds more like a power supply problem or logic controller problem if the unit will not fire up and as such unless you are into electronics then a repair center is the next option and most likely the quickest.

7.1 would have Surround Back L and R.

6.1 would have just one back there (SB). It defaults to the Left output on the Pre-Outs if you ever go that route.

This being a 6.1 receiver it does not support two SB channels BUT you can configure those amp channels for a separate Zone supporting 2 speakers. Confused?

The manual shows a single SB speaker connected to the left side on Page 27. THAT would be consistent with a 6.1 configuration.

Onkyo TX-SR701 Digital audio port stopped working

you may want to try a factory reset by pressing and holding vcr1 button while pressing the power button. do this with the unit on. It will reset back to factory default. so any saved setting will be lost and you will have to set again to your settings.

Onkyo TX-SR502 AV receiver

this could be the pre amp transistor or the power amp that needs replacing
the pre amp transistor is cheap but the power amp is not
if you did not crank it , then it is probably just the transistor that needs replacing
