My C7250 just did the same thing a couple of minutes ago. It works now but I'm not sure what did the trick. I put in a single sheet and pushed it with my finger. After a couple of tries doing this, it grabbed the paper and printed.
Scan a BLANK sheet of paper.
if you have that black strip it means there sre two possibilities:
>> the scanner glass is not screen
>> the scanner is faulty.
Clean the glass properly using a moist lint free cloth.(do not use alcohol)
if the issue still persists
The only option that you have is to get the printer replaced.
If your printer is still under warranty(i.e if its still not an year old) you can get a free replacement from HP. wherein they will send you a new printer absolutely FREE OF COST
if its not in warranty then you can opt for the UPGRADE option that HP has. You can send them this faulty printer and get a LATEST PRINTER at a huge discount..
here's the number to call 1800-474-6836
Perhaps this is a characteristic of the document being printed: Manual paper feeds in addition to the automatic paper feed characters? Use the word processing program matching the document to remove the unwanted paper feeds.
I had same problem with hp psc 2410 all-in-one. Finally ran "HP all-in-one Series Web Release Uninstaller version: 4.1.1.00.1332 (3/20/2007) that I had downloaded several years ago. Then plug and play took over and installed the correct driver that Vista kept insisting I already had.
you can put only a few sheets in at once, and then push the sheet a little bit until the printer takes it, once it does that, try a few sheets at once and you should still have to make the printer take the first but after that they should all take normally.
