The tv will be on for about an hour then shuts itself off. The lamp and standby/tem light blink when this happens (not the time lite). You can generally turn the tv back on and then it will turn itself off again after only a couple of minutes. Then if you leave it sit for a while you can turn it on and it will stay on. The fan is working and the bulb cover is secure. There is plenty of space between the tv and the wall.
We had this exact problem with our Samsung DLP about a year ago (it was 2 years old at the time). We purchased a small desk fan for $6 and placed in behind the TV. We started running the fan when watching and it fixed the problem of the TV clicking off. It was inteded to be a short-term fix, but since it's worked so well we still haven't gotten the TV fixed.
Have a 46 inch behaving the same way. I have the extended service contract, so they are getting a calll tomorrow. I ll post what they say

Have a 46 inch behaving the same way. I have the extended service contract, so they are getting a calll tomorrow. I ll post what they say.......................... This is Sharon with same problem nearly a yr after you posted the above. I'd like to know what they said if you don't mind sharing. thks Today is Dec. 14, 08 and for the past two days my Samsung HD TV Progressive Screen has been turning off just a few minutes after I turn it on. There is sound but no picture. It turns itself off and on for a few minutes, then after about 4 tries of this it gives up and shuts off completely. Any thoughts would be helpful and welcome!

I have a Samsung 56" dlp hdtv also just under 3 years old ans the same problem is happening. It shuts off after 1/2 hour. Whats wrong and how do I get it fixed?
We have the exact same issue, seeking any thoughts on how to resolve this.
T.V. was working just fine last night. This morning we woke up and the t.v. turns off by itself after a minute. When you try and go into settings it IMMEDIATELY turns off so you can't see what you're doing. I got to timer but the function was off. Any ideas as to what it might be?
Same problem. TV was working just fine until this morning, when it shut itself down after about an hour. I turned it back on and all was well for about two minutes, then it shut itself down. Same thing again tonight.
Same thing here. Have a 50" DLP that worked fine for the first 1.5 years, then it did the same shut off thing. Not consistant. Sometimes it won't do it for weeks-months. Sometimes it will shut off after a few hours. Sometimes in a few minutes. Very annoying! Looking foe a fix!

My DLP HL-5663W 56" TV turns itself off after approx. an hour sometimes sooner. It will do this sometimes...repeatedly. Usually, after restarting the set, it will run properly. But, this problem is occuring more frequently. The set appears to be cool and sufficiently far from the wall. What gives? How do I solve this problem?
