I think the best solution is making a windows password recovery diskwith the third part utility. The disk can work perfectly to recover windows password to “Blank”. It is also useful for administrator password recovery, you can wrote it to an blank CD or USB flash drive to recover administrator password. Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

You need to either get the previous owner to remove the satnav from their site or give you the log in details. To remove it from the previous owner's site;
  • They need to log in to myGarmin
  • Click on the "myProducts" tab at the top of the screen
  • The name of the satnav (i.e. nuvi 255W) will be shown here and under it in blue writing the word "Details"
  • Click on "Details"
  • On the next screen click on "Delete Registration"
Once it's deleted you should be able to register it under your own name. If you don't know the previous owner or can't contact them I'm afraid it won't be possible to update it.

Try getting in to the user account to see whether there is any other users. If there is, try to log in to that username by logging out of your account first. If that user doesn't have a password, you will have luck, or else, i guess, you will have to get the password from the previous owner or reinstall a fresh copy of windows.

Unless the machine is set up so that it will only operate for a selected user, you should be able to simply use it. Logging in may only mean that you have access to files that the previous owner has set to be used only by someone who logs in. When it asks you to log in, if it does, simply hit return and see what happens.

Log in as administrator, it usally does not have a password on it.

Then go to users and remove the password. Log in as that user and change the password to what you want.

If there is a password on the administator, then write back and we will go from there.
