Take off the 4 phillips head screws around the door. the 2 sides will fold out, pull and the bottom panel will follow. after you have removed the panel you will have access to the frame. you will need to remove the top 2 5/16th screws. you will then lift the top panel and have a access to the top of the drum.

Neptune dryer 5500 no power

This dryer has 2 thermal fuses. One next to the control stat on the blower housing and another on the heater element. You could quite possibly have a bad blower wheel or simply a lint build up cauing over heating. To get inside this dryer you remove the door first. The you can remove the front. Once that is removed you can pop the top and get the front shroud off. You cannot work from behind.

Maytag 5500 igniter heats up only some times

Easy fix. Replace the solenoid coils. They get intermittent with age.
To access the innards you remove the door. after the door is removed you can then pp off the goalpost shaped front and reveal the hooks that hold the top down. Once you have the top up you van remove the glide panel and drum. Once the drum is out you can clean the dryer. check the blower wheel for looseness (common) and replace the solenoids. The beater bar in my Neptune dryer modeL # MED5500AYW has come off and needs to be replaced.

It sounds like you are referring to the drum baffles when you say "beater bar". If that is so, you need to remove the front panel then raise the top cover to access the baffles mounting screws outside the drum. Below is the link to the procedure I posted previously.

How do i remove the back of my 5500 neptune shell?

you dont. it is serviced from the front. open the door, there are two screws on each side in the door frame, remove them (the door will stay without the screws until pulled up and out). pull the front panel toward you from both sides, then pull up out of the brackets on bottom. you can service any part in the cabinet from there. if you are removing the drum, youll see one screw on each side holding the top down, remove and top hinges up and out of the way. shane
